Welcome letter
President European EANN
Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure, on behalf of the European Association of Neuroscience Nurses (EANN), to welcome you to our 2027 Quadrennial Congress, EANN’s 15th, in the beautiful city of Seville, Spain. This congress marks a significant milestone as we join in partnership with the 49th AEEN Annual Congress, bringing together neuroscience nurses, clinicians, educators, researchers, and healthcare leaders from across Europe and beyond. Together, we celebrate the strength of our professional community and our shared commitment to advancing neuroscience nursing.
As neurological disorders continue to grow in prevalence and complexity, their impact on individuals, families, healthcare systems, and societies has never been greater. In this rapidly evolving landscape, the role of neuroscience nurses is increasingly vital. EANN remains committed to its mission of disseminating contemporary, evidence-informed practice and knowledge, supporting excellence in care, and fostering collaboration that improves outcomes for people living with neurological conditions.
Our scientific programme reflects this commitment. Through inspiring keynote lectures, innovative research presentations, interactive workshops, and opportunities for networking, the congress will showcase cutting-edge clinical practice, nursing education, leadership, and research. It is designed to encourage scientific collaboration, promote the exchange of ideas, and inspire innovation across all areas of neuroscience nursing.
Beyond the scientific programme, I encourage you to take the opportunity to connect with colleagues, establish new collaborations, and renew existing friendships. It is through these professional relationships that we continue to strengthen our specialty and shape the future of neuroscience nursing across Europe and internationally.
Seville, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and renowned hospitality, provides the perfect setting for this landmark event. I hope you will enjoy not only the outstanding educational programme but also the unique experience of exploring this remarkable city.
Thank you for joining us and for your ongoing dedication to excellence in neuroscience nursing. I look forward to welcoming you to Seville in 2027 and to sharing an inspiring and memorable congress with you.
With my warmest regards,
Professor Neal Cook

Submissions must be made exclusively via the online form found in the “Submission of communications” section.
Unified regulations for scientific communications
UNIFIED REGULATIONS FOR SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE NEUROSCIENCE NURSING CONGRESS SEVILLE 2027
- PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF APPLICATION
These regulations establish the criteria and requirements for the preparation, submission, evaluation, presentation, and publication of scientific communications (oral communications, posters, and clinical cases) at the 15th EANN Quadrennial Congress and 49th AEEN Annual Congress, Seville, Spain, May 5–7, 2027.
These regulations apply to all scientific communications submitted to the Congress, regardless of their modality and the authors’ country of origin.
- TYPES OF ACCEPTED COMMUNICATIONS
The following modalities of scientific presentation will be accepted:
- Oral communication: A scientific work presented in a structured format before the audience, lasting approximately 12–20 minutes, followed by 4 minutes for questions and discussion. It must synthetically include the introduction, objectives, material and method, results, and discussion/conclusions, oriented towards the dissemination of research, clinical experiences, or projects relevant to nursing practice in neuroscience.
- Poster: A visual and structured presentation modality of a scientific work, in digital and/or printed format, designed to display clearly and summarily the objectives, method, results, and conclusions of the study, encouraging direct exchange between authors and attendees during the Congress.
- All accepted posters may be available in digital format on the platforms enabled by the organisation. Likewise, the Scientific Committee may select certain posters for public defence in a specific session for outstanding posters.
- The oral defence of the selected poster will have a maximum duration of 3 minutes, supported by a maximum of 3 slides, including, if deemed appropriate, the slide with the image of the poster. After the round of presentations, approximately 2 minutes will be reserved for questions.
- Selection for public defence will not necessarily alter the original poster modality, unless expressly communicated by the Scientific Committee.
- Clinical case: A work focused on the presentation and analysis of a case of clinical interest, including patient background, case description, data analysis, medical and nursing diagnoses, taxonomy used, and a reflection or discussion on its implications for clinical practice.
- Workshop or round table: A 60–90 minute session oriented towards small group discussion and the practical approach to a topic relevant to neuroscience nursing.
The Scientific Committee may determine the final form of presentation (oral, poster, workshop, or round table) based on the quality, originality, and score obtained in the evaluation.
- GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATIONS
- Communications must be original, not previously published, nor presented at other congresses.
- The theme must be related to neuroscience nursing (neurological, neurosurgical, neurorehabilitation, intensive care, paediatrics, neuro-oncology, neuro-chronic care, operating theatre, emergencies, education, management, research, or other related fields).
- The maximum number of authors per communication will be 6 members.
- Registration for the Congress of at least one author will be essential, and registration of the author presenting the communication is compulsory.
- The language for presentation will be English in the main scientific sessions of the Congress, with simultaneous translation available. However, papers may be presented in Spanish in the specific room equipped with simultaneous translation for this purpose, ensuring comprehension by all attendees.
- Any conflict of interest related to the work must be explicitly communicated and stated in the presentation; in the event of funding or direct participation by the pharmaceutical industry, it must be specified and the work will not be eligible for a prize.
- RULES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
4.1. General Characteristics of the Abstract
- The abstract must be submitted in Word or compatible format.

- Assessment tables will include aspects such as:
- a. Importance and relevance of the topic to neuroscience nursing.
- b. Originality and innovation.
- c. Methodological rigour and scientific quality.
- d. Clarity in writing and structure of the work.
- e. Future outlook and implication for nursing practice.
- In the case of EANN congresses, it will be respected that each country may have at least one abstract accepted, a circumstance that may influence the final decision for inclusion in the scientific programme.
- The Scientific Committee may modify the proposed presentation modality depending on the quality and structure of the work.
- COMMUNICATION OF ACCEPTANCE AND PRESENTATION
- The technical secretariat will confirm receipt of abstracts and assign an identification code.
- The Scientific Committee will communicate the acceptance or rejection of papers before the established date, indicating the day and order of presentation, as well as the deadline for receiving digital posters.

- Use standardized nursing terminology (NANDA-I, NIC, NOC, ICNP, ATIC, among others) when describing nursing diagnoses, interventions and outcomes.
- Incorporate an updated and critical literature review that places the work within the context of existing knowledge.
- Follow the scientific writing recommendations of the main editorial guides adapted to the field of nursing.
- Ensure consistency among the title, objectives, method, results, and conclusions.
- The papers that receive the highest ratings from the Scientific Committee may be proposed for publication in the Revista Científica de Enfermería (RECIEN), in accordance with the editorial policy, peer review criteria, and publication requirements established by said journal.
